How to Commission

First of all, thank you so much! I wouldn't be able to do what I love, if it wasn't for your support and business. Outlined below is a detailed guide on how to commission me for your own one-of-a-kind fursuit, and what you can expect during the commission process. If you have any questions, check out the FAQ page for some common ones that I get asked. Otherwise, please don't hesitate to contact me via email if you have any questions or concerns regarding the whole process.

1. Estimating and Researching

So you've done your research, and decided that Wild Dog Works is the right maker for you. You've read the Terms of Service, you've played with the Estimate Calculator, and you would like to submit an official order form. Be sure to check out the About section (under the More dropdown menu) to read all about how I make my suits, what the standard features are and what options are available. All this can help you determine what you would like out of the commission, as well as what the final quote might be.

2. What do I need to commission?

Be sure that you’ve got everything you need before submitting the form! You’ll need a 2- or (preferably) 3-view reference sheet, that has no shading or inconsistent markings. A clear view of the tongue/mouth colour and the pawpads and claw colours are also important. If there are any specific design aspects on your character, such as zig-zags or smaller markings, make sure they’re pointed out clearly, or let me know in the commissioning details. Fur gradients are also not possible, and your application will be immediately discarded if your design has them. When submitting your reference image, you can link me to a social media post, a Google Drive document, or an Imgur URL. Please refrain from sending Discord links, as these tend to expire within 24 hours. Once you’ve got everything, you can use the Estimate Calculator at the bottom of this page to apply for a commission slot from the 20th-23rd of each month. Make sure you are fully committed to purchasing before hitting the order button - by placing an order, you will be put in the consideration pool for my next opening.

3. Yay or Nay

It's the 1st of the month, which means Wild Dog Works is deciding on new commissions! When this date arrives, I will be choosing the customers for that intake round, and I will accept 2-3 new customers. If you're not chosen, don't be sad! I would love to see you again in a different month. If you are chosen, congratulations! You can move on to the next stage of the commissioning process. Regardless of if you have been chosen or not, you will receive an email.

4. Payment

Next up after accepting the commission is payment. The first payment is due within 24hrs of accepting the commission - if the payment isn't made without a valid excuse, then your spot will be forfeited to another customer. This first payment will be a 50% upfront deposit, with the remaining payment due on completion of your commission. I don't offer any long-term payment plans, because I have such a short turn around time.

5. Details and Fur order

Once payment is received, we will discuss what furs you would like for your character. I will provide a choice of furs that I think will suit your suit the most, but you are welcome to provide alternative furs to a certain degree. Exotic furs from obscure stores may incur an additional charge. I generally only order furs from Big Z and Howl Fabric, so if you want to avoid the additional charge, try to keep your choice limited to those stores. Once you have decided on the furs, an order will be placed for the entire intake for that month. Furs tend to take 10-14 days to ship.

6. Waiting

During the time that the fur is shipping, I will most likely need some things from you. You may need to send me a duct tape dummy, and additional measurements that I need to create your fursuit. This is the time to get that organised! You will need to be prompt with this, as I cannot start your commission until I receive these vital pieces, so if you delay, so will your costume.

7. Creation

I have reached your spot in the queue! This is one of the most exciting parts of getting a fursuit. I work fairly quickly, and will have multiple WIPs for each working day, so expect to hear from me often. I may need to contact you for additional clarifications and questions, so if you intend to be away from communications for a few days, please let me know.

8. Shipment

Your suit is done, and you love it! At this point, I will be asking for the remaining total and shipping payment, which will be quoted at that same time (only an estimate is given with your initial quote, due to the nature of these prices fluctuating). This amount needs to be paid in full after the commission is completed, otherwise the suit cannot be shipped. If you cannot make the payment , storage fees of $5/day will be charged, so please factor in this payment. All shipments are insured, so if something should happen in freight, there is some compensation.

And that's the full process! If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to reach out and ask.
